On 21 July 2016, at the 23rd Session of UN FAO Committee on Forestry held in Rome, Italy, the KFS Minister SHIN Won-sop made a presentation elaborating Korea's will to host the Fifteenth World Forestry Congress.

The World Forestry Congress is the largest gathering of the world's forestry sector and has been held every six years since 1926.
