The 3rd Meeting of the Korea-Cambodia Forestry Cooperative Committee and
the Opening of the Institute of Forest and Wildlife Research and Development (IRD)

The third meeting of the Korea-Cambodia Forestry Cooperative Committee was held between the Korea Forest Service and the Forestry Administration of Cambodia on 7 May 2014, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Korean delegation was headed by Dr. LEE Chang-jae, Director General of the International Affairs Bureau, KFS and the Cambodian delegation by Dr. Chheng Kimsun, Head of the Forestry Administration.

Both sides agreed to facilitate the follow-up activities under the MOU on the Investment in Forest Plantation and Climate Change, make shared efforts in resolving challenges in forest investment in Cambodia, explore cooperation areas on forest resources use, , and cooperate on REDD+ pilot project, forest researches and seed conservation.

On the same day, the opening ceremony of the Institute of Forest and Wildlife Research and Development was held in the morning at the Institute which was established with support of the Government of Korea.

Distinguished participants from both countries celebrated the significant cooperation on establishing the IRD in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and hoped for the prosperity of the Institute.
