content : In a country where forests account for 64 % of its entire national land, concerns have been raised on such existing funeral practices as burial and laying a dead body's ashes in a charnel house. And recently, a new funeral practice is drawing attention of the public. "Burial under a tree not only diminishes the level of damages to forests caused by the establishment of graveyards, but also is most symbolic of the fact that people go back to nature," said Mr. Cho Yon-hwan, chief of Korea Forest Service.
