FAO Workshop held in Daejeon, ROK (Feb. 3~5)
A workshop was held from February 3 to 5, co-hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and the Korea Green Promotion Agency in Daejeon, Republic of Korea (ROK) where the Korea Forest Service(KFS)'s headquarter and KGPA office are located. The purpose of the workshop was to share the lessons learned from the successful implementation of the reforestation policy and Saemaul movement of ROK, in order to accomplish the global Food Security and Nutrition (FSN) goals. There were attendees from FAO, led by Mr. Dominique Reeb, as well as officers from KFS and other experts on the agriculture and forestry.
As a followup measure of the International Conference on Forests for Food Security and Nutrition (May 2013), a report on the ROK's success case was also suggested through this workshop. After further review and consultation, the report is to be completed around May/June 2015.
