As the Kyoto Protocol came into effect, the efforts to reduce carbon emmission have been pressuring up internationally. Consequently, investment on overseas plantation for carbon sink is gaining momentum.

More systematic investment on overseas plantation will be facilitated to achieve both secure supply of timber and carbon sink expansion under Kyoto Protocol.

The working technical group between Korea and Indonesia will be organized to facilitate CDM for carbon sink.

The Korea-Indonesia bilateral cooperation that began in 1972 will provide the key in developing the forestry blue ocean that could bring mutual benefits.
