Mr. Ha Young-je, Minister of Korea Forest Service, led the Korean Delegation in the resources development cooperation talks with the Southeast Asian countries. He met with His Excellency Mr. Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, to further discuss the potential cooperation. The Cambodian side proposed cooperation in forest rehabilitation in the Siem Reap area.
The Korean side stated that the major interests of the Korean companies include commercial plantation as well as carbon sequestration and bioenergy. The Korean side further expresesed its intentions to positively consider forest rehabilitation projects in Siem Reap.
Mr. Ha also met with Mr. Ty Sokhun, the Chief Administrator of the Cambodian Forestry Administration to sign and adopt the "MOU concerning Cooperation in the Field of Forestry" which aims to facilitate cooperation in terms of climate change, sustainable forest management, forest protection and other related activities.
