Significance of Public Participation and Partnership in Fire Prevention

The Korea Forest Service in consultation with the Gangwon University held a symposium on forest fire prevention and decreasing impact. Related institutions including academic groups, fire service, and forest agencies participated. At the symposium, Chief Suh Seung-jin of the Korea Forest Service pointed out that an efficient fire fighting operation by establishing Incident Command System is essential. He further stressed that protecting forests from fires is a national issue and it is something that both the public and the government should cooperate in.
