Forest Genetic Resources Department
In order to improve productivity of tree species, and increase people’s incomes in rural areas and forest villages, we develop technology for improving genetic gain and breeding new variety of timber tree species; conserve and utilize useful forest genetic resources; apply biotechnology for developing high value-added forest resources; and develop and provide non-timber forest resources.
Special-purpose Trees Division
Special-purpose Trees Division aims to explore forest product resources, breed new varieties, and develop high quality cultivation technology. In order to increase farmers’ incomes in rural areas and forest village and strengthen international competitiveness, we focus on developing new cultivars and cultivation technology for fruit trees, special purpose trees, and honey plants, developing new cultivars of Mugunghwa (Hibiscus syriacus L., the national flower), creating and managing non-timber forest product complex and developing forest farming techniques for wild vegetables.
