Asia Pacific Association of Forestry Research Institutions(APAFRI)

Objectives

1) To expand mutual benefits such as R&D capacity building of both nations by supporting cooperation and joint researches among research institutes related to forest and forestry throughout Asia and Pacific regions

2) To create synergy effect in establishing international network throughout Asia and Pacific regions by operating AFoCO and supporting programs to disseminate Korea's advance technologies and to provide developing countries with opportunities for R&D capacity building

3) To contribute to raising the national status by playing a leading role in resolving pending issues in forest sector such as desertification and climate change

1) Contributed to expanded interchanges among member countries of forest science information on pending issues such as carbon credit, REDD+, forest vulnerability to exotic invasive species and adaptability to climate change
2) Performed a leading role in resolving pending issues in Northeast forest sector with extending Korea's green technologies
3) Established a role as a R&D center to enhance the cooperation network among Asia countries after the establishment of Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) in Korea
